LOVE SPELLS

“This album is about the healing journey required to enjoy the beauty of romantic love from a whole space ,” said Talibah Safiya

”Love Spells (Live)” was recorded live at the Greenroom located in Memphis TN. It features mostly original music but also a cover of Isaac Hayes's “Do Your Thing”, Minnie Riperton’s “Les Fleurs” and Betty Davis’s “My Man”. This album was produced in collaboration with the University of Memphis's High Water Records as Talibah is currently artist in residence there. Steve Stewart (drums), Derek Brassel (Bass), Madame Fraankie (guitar) and was mixed by Sam Crane. The album explored themes of magic, romantic love, self actualization and celebration.

“It’s important to me that people are able to listen to this with the understanding that spell casting is speaking and affirming the life and feelings you want,” Talibah Safiya said of the album. “This project being live is important because these songs were developed on stage so it really gives the audience the immersive feelings that these singles were born of".
